Atlanta's custom fence & gate designers
Want a fence or gate that’s one of a kind — not an off-the-shelf panel? FenceWorks of Georgia has designed and built custom fences and gates across metro Atlanta since 2006. We start with what you have in mind — a style, a photo, a rough sketch, or just a problem to solve — and design around your property: arched and scalloped gate tops, horizontal-slat modern lines, mixed wood-and-steel builds, decorative caps and hardware, and fences that rack down a slope or wrap an odd-shaped lot. Whatever the material, we draw it, build it to spec, and install it with our own crews. (Ready to price a specific material? See our fence material guide and fence cost guide.)
- Materials: cedar & pressure-treated wood, aluminum, ornamental steel & iron, vinyl, composite, and chain link
- What we customize: gate style & arch, height & spacing, mixed materials, decorative caps, finials & hardware, slope & grade, and matching an existing fence
- Gates too: custom walk & driveway gates, manual or automated with keypad / intercom access — see our gates hub
- Process: free on-site consultation → design & itemized quote → we build and install
- Pricing: quoted per project — design, material, size, and hardware set the price

How custom design works
From first idea to finished install — three straightforward steps.
Free on-site consultation
We walk your property, talk through the look you want, the materials, and what the fence or gate has to do. Bring a photo, an inspiration board, or a rough sketch — or just point at the problem and we’ll take it from there.
Your design & itemized quote
We turn it into a buildable design and a clear, itemized quote — material, size, hardware, and any automation spelled out, usually within the same week. Financing is available through Wisetack.
We build & install it
Our own crews fabricate the custom work and install it clean, matching the design we agreed on, then haul away the debris. One team, start to finish.
Materials we design in
Custom work isn’t limited to one material. Pick the look and performance you want and we’ll design around it — each of these links to the full details.
Wood & cedar
The most freedom for a one-off build — arched and scalloped gate tops, board-on-board, crossbuck, and horizontal-slat designs in cedar or pressure-treated pine.
Aluminum
Powder-coated ornamental aluminum in custom widths, heights, and colors, with your choice of finials and rackable panels for sloped yards.
Ornamental steel & iron
Welded steel and wrought-iron looks with scrollwork, custom arches, and heavy-duty frames when you want a true architectural one-off.
Vinyl
Low-maintenance vinyl in custom heights and open-picket or privacy styles — it won’t rot, rust, or need repainting.
Composite (Trex)
Trex composite in custom layouts and colors for the look of wood with almost none of the upkeep.
Chain link
Custom heights, colors, and privacy-slat options when you need a practical enclosure built to an exact opening.
What custom design costs. Custom fences and gates are quoted per project rather than at a flat per-foot rate — the design, material, size, and hardware all move the price. You get a free, itemized on-site estimate, with financing available through Wisetack.

Custom fence design FAQ
Quick answers on what’s possible, matching your home, materials, gates, cost, and permits.
It means we design and build a fence or gate specifically for your property instead of installing a stock panel. That can be a one-off gate style, a mix of materials, decorative caps or hardware, a height or picket spacing that isn’t standard, or a layout that follows a slope or an unusual lot line. You tell us the look and the job it has to do, and we design and build to it.
Yes. We regularly match a new gate or fence to a home’s architecture, or to fencing already on the property — the same material, height, color, and picket or board spacing — so the new work reads as original rather than bolted on. If we didn’t build the original, we match it as closely as the existing materials allow.
Cedar and pressure-treated wood, powder-coated aluminum, ornamental steel and wrought-iron looks, vinyl, Trex composite, and chain link. Wood and steel give you the most freedom for arches, scrollwork, and mixed designs, but every material can be built to a custom size, height, and finish.
Yes — custom walk gates and driveway gates are one of the most common things we build, manual or automated with keypad, intercom, and phone-entry access control. See our gates & access control hub for automation details.
Yes. Racking a fence to follow the grade, stepping it down a hill, and working around curves, retaining walls, and irregular property lines is routine custom work for us. We sort out the layout on the free on-site visit.
Custom work is quoted per project rather than a flat per-foot rate, because the design, material, size, and hardware all move the price. You get a free, itemized on-site estimate, and financing is available through Wisetack. Our fence cost guide explains the ranges.
We build to the design and spec you approve, but pulling permits and getting any HOA architectural approval is the property owner’s responsibility, not ours. Tell us what your permit or HOA sign-off requires and we’ll build to it. Our Georgia fence laws guide is a good starting point.
A custom fence is usually a one-to-a-few-day install once the materials are in; a custom-fabricated or automated gate takes longer because of the build plus any electrical and access-control wiring. We give you a realistic timeline with your itemized quote.
