Chain link — the go-to for dog runs & kennels
For most dog runs we build galvanized or black vinyl-coated chain link. It's tough enough to take jumping, digging, and daily use, it keeps your dog visible and the air moving, and it's one of the most budget-friendly fences we install. Black vinyl-coated blends into a backyard and resists rust; galvanized is the classic, hardest-working finish. Built to your dog, not off a shelf

Size & layout
Attached to the house or freestanding, a long narrow run or a larger pen — sized to your dog and the space you have. A longer run gives a dog more room to move than a square of the same area.
A secure, self-latching gate
Every run gets a proper gate with a self-latching or lockable latch, sized for you to walk in with food and water, so it stays shut behind you and your dog can't nose it open.
Dig defense
For diggers we add a bottom rail, a tension wire along the base, a buried L-shaped apron, or set the fence on a concrete mow strip so there's nothing to tunnel under.
Climb & jump control
For jumpers and climbers we build taller and can add an angled top or a fully covered top — which also keeps hawks and other animals out.
Mini-mesh for small dogs
Puppies and small breeds can slip through or catch a paw in standard diamonds, so we can build with a tighter mini-mesh chain link where you need it.
Ground & drainage
Pea gravel, crushed stone, decomposed granite, or concrete drain well and rinse clean; concrete also stops digging. We install the fence and can talk through the surface that suits your run.

Many small residential dog runs don't need a permit, but some cities and most HOAs have rules on placement, height, and setbacks, and some jurisdictions limit how many dogs you can keep or how large a kennel can be.
